Conferences about cyber security are important if you’re trying to stay on top of the challenges facing the world of cybersecurity. Whether you’re a business owner, compliance officer or IT professional, these are some conferences that are happening in 2018 that you might want to attend.

Houston Cyber Security Conference 2018

This event is being held in Houston at the end of January. It lasts for one day. There will be visitor booths as well as educational sessions throughout the day. Attending the education portion of the conference will qualify attendees for CPE credits. Some vendors at the session include Cyber Defenses, Carbon Black, Panda, Sentinel PS and Reduxio.

International Conference on Cyber Security 2018

Fordham University and the Federal Bureau of Investigation hold a conference every eighteen months. The event lasts 3 days and has speakers covering some important aspects of cybersecurity like research, law enforcement and analysis. Along with the governmental aspect of cyber security, the ICCS features speakers from the private sector as well as academia. It’s the chance to learn about security matters from some of the top agencies. In 2018, the conference will be held in New York City.

CPX 360

CPX 360 will take place in Las Vegas and is sponsored by Check Point and other security sponsors. There will be sessions with speakers in a TED-talk fashion. There will be some of the top executives at Check Point speaking at the conference as well as providing classes for their customers on site. They’ll have a hands-on lab for testing the latest technology. There will be an expo portion of the conference and games that attendees can enjoy.

2018 FINRA Cybersecurity Conference

This conference will be held in New York, and a block of hotel rooms have been made available for those who want to attend from out of the area. The hotel is the Westin New York at Times Square, which will allow you to be a tourist when not attending the conference. There are featured sessions like the CCO’s Role in Cybersecurity, Guidance for Small Firms and Branch Cybersecurity Controls. If you can’t attend in person, there will be video broadcasts live online. All those who attend online will receive the conference materials too.


This conference has been labeled a “hacker conference” or a “hacker convention” since it was started by Dark Tangent. Dark Tangent, or Jeff Moss, who founded the conference of hackers back in 1993. The 2018 conference will be held in August at Caesars Palace. There’s live music at night with speakers and plenty to do during the day. In fact, there are a few learning tracks including the hacking portion, which includes Wi-Fi Cracking stations, Capture the Flag and lock picking contests.
