Computer Science Degrees at University of Florida

Computer science covers a wide range of positions, including network administrators, cybersecurity, software development, and information technology experts. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, information security analysts earn as much as $98,350 per year and many positions require only a bachelor’s degree. Network administrators earn an average of $82,050 per year and positions require a four-year degree. Computer research scientists earn around $118,370 but those positions normally require a master’s degree or higher. The University of Florida offers several degree programs that prepare individuals for careers in computer science.
The Information System concentration with the Bachelor of Science in Business is designed for those who want to move into careers based in business and information technology. Students gain the technical knowledge necessary to supply organizations with the information they need to make crucial decisions. The program requires 120 credit hours and courses may include:

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science prepares students for employment as a computing professional. The program is designed for those who wish to gain technical knowledge with the flexibility to take other non-technical courses. The program is available both on campus and online and requires 29 credits of foundation courses, 35 in core courses and six electives. Courses required include:

At the graduate level, students can earn an M.S. or M.E. in Computer Engineering, M.S. in Computer Science, or an M.S. in Digital Arts and Sciences.
About the University of Florida
James Henry Roper, an educator from North Carolina, opened the Gainesville Academy in Gainesville, Florida in 1858. However, the Florida Territorial Legislature had started planning for institutes of higher education in 1823. They established the West Florida Seminary and the East Florida Seminary in 1851. The East Florida Seminary was forced to close during the Civil War.
On the condition that the state relocate the seminary to the campus, Roper offered the Gainesville Academy to the state in 1866. In 1884, Jordan Probst established the Florida Agricultural College in Lake City which became the first land-grant college in Florida. In 1883, the West Florida Seminary merged with the Tallahassee College of Medicine and Surgery, becoming Florida University. Although the school became the University of Florida a few years later, it never adopted the name and, in 1903, the title was given to the Florida Agriculture School.
When the University of Florida system was established in 1905, four separate schools were merged into the University of the State of Florida. The schools merged included the University of Florida at Lake City, the East Florida Seminary, the St. Petersburg Normal and Industrial School and the South Florida Military College.
Today, the University of Florida is ranked among the top 20 public universities in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.

University of Florida Application Requirements
Undergraduate applicants must submit official high school transcripts along with a resume and essay. They must also provide official ACT or SAT scores. Transfer applicants must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. They must also submit official ACT or SAT scores and documentation they have completed courses in foreign language.
Graduate applicants must submit a statement of purpose, resume, letters of recommendation and copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. They must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
University of Florida Tuition and Financial Aid
Full-time tuition for undergraduate students is $6,390 per year. Graduate tuition is $12,740 per year. In order to qualify for financial aid, all students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the form must be renewed annually. Assistance may be awarded as scholarships or grants which do not need to be repaid. Students who attend on campus may be offered work-study programs. Loans may also be included in financial aid packets but they must be repaid upon graduation.
