The university was originally founded as a technology center but grew into a research university after merging with Southeastern University of the Health Sciences in 1994. Nova Southeastern University Application Requirements
Undergraduate hopefuls can apply to Nova Southeastern University using the school’s online application or the common application. Students can choose to complete an optional essay along with the application. Both applications require a $50 fee. Families who cannot afford the $50 fee may request that this fee be waived.
Applicants must have official transcripts from any previous schools forwarded to the university in order to be considered for admission. Students who have taken AP courses, dual credit or any courses that have earned college credit while in high school must forward all transcripts and proof of completion as well. Taking college-level courses in high school does not improve an applicant’s chance of admission, nor are all credits guaranteed to transfer.
Students must also submit test scores from either the ACT or SAT. They must also provide one to three letters of recommendation from previous teachers. There is no minimum college entrance exam score required by Nova Southeastern University. However, most students who are admitted have an ACT of at least 21 and/or an SAT of at least 1070, combined. Most students have an A-/B+ classroom average as well.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate students at Nova Southeastern University are charged a flat-rate of $15,575 per semester for full-time study. The university considers 12 to 18 hours per semester to be full-time. The cost for individual classes is $1,038 per credit hour. This fee is charged to any student that takes fewer than 12 credits per semester or who wishes to take more than 18 hours.
Students who attend the Nova Southeastern University home campus have the option of living in the university residence halls. Living expenses range from about $9,000 to $15,000 per year.
Students at Nova Southeastern University are charged a number of fees in addition to standard tuition. These fees include registration, student services, lab fees, course materials, and books, among others. The cost can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. The cost of fees depends upon the classes that are being taken, the year of study and other factors. Students at Nova Southeastern University are automatically enrolled in the school’s healthcare plan, though students are allowed to opt out if they have existing insurance.
