Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science provides a foundation in computer science applications. The program focuses on computer systems architecture, software development, artificial intelligence and more. In addition, there is a strong mathematics component. Students are able to customize their degree with a certificate in Robotics or High-Performance Computing. Courses required may include Programming and Problem Solving, Data Structures, Operating Systems and Concepts of Programming Languages.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology is designed for those who already have an Associate in Applied Science in computing from the Technical College System of Georgia. All credits for the two-year degree transfer as a block into the four-year program at Kennesaw State University. The program is available online, on campus or in a hybrid version. Students develop problem-solving skills, core IT concepts and best practices in IT. They are able to identify and evaluate organizational requirements as well as current and emerging technologies. Courses required may include Advanced Programming Principles, Discrete Structures for Computing, Software Acquisition and Problem Solving, Database Systems and Policy & Law.
Master of Science in Computer Science
The Master of Science in Computer Science provides a curriculum that blends theoretic foundations of computer science with state-of-the-art computing technology. Students are provided the opportunity to study research, advanced project development, and interdisciplinary study. The program is available in a thesis model that requires six to nine hours of thesis work as well as conference paper submissions or a professional practitioner model which includes a six-hour track and elective courses. Students may also choose an interdisciplinary model with six elective courses or a technology commercialization model where they work with a faculty supervisor in a study plan approved by the program director. Courses required may include Cloud Computing, Advanced Database Systems, Big Data Analytics, and Machine Vision.
Master of Science in Information Technology
The Master of Science in Information Technology is designed for students who do not have a background in computing. Students are provided foundation courses in software design and development, computer architecture, operating systems, networks, databases and web technologies. The program is available in either a capstone or thesis option. Courses required may include IT Design Studio, IT Service Delivery, System Acquisition and Integration as well as Information Security Concepts and Administration.
About Kennesaw State University
Kennesaw State University was chartered during one of the most dramatic periods of college expansion in the state of Georgia. In 1963, the Georgia Board of Regents officially founded the school as a junior college which was initially to be named Cobb County Junior College. When the school opened its doors in 1966, it was named Kennesaw Junior College and had an enrollment of over 1,000.
The school became a four-year college in 1976 and the name was changed to Kennesaw College. By 1985, the first graduate degree programs were offered and the school grew rapidly. In 1988, it became Kennesaw State College and all associate’s degrees, except a two-year degree in nursing, were eliminated. The school gained university status in 1996.
Today, there are over 35,000 students enrolled at Kennesaw State University. US News & World Report ranks the school as a top public university and one of the best colleges in the country. The publication also ranks the online graduate information technology program as the top program in Georgia.

Kennesaw State University is accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges. Kennesaw State University Application Requirements
Applicants to undergraduate programs at Kennesaw State University must provide official high school transcripts as well as official ACT or SAT scores. They must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants who have more than 30 semester or 50 quarter hours of college credit do not need to provide official high school transcripts or test scores but must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
Applicants to graduate programs at Kennesaw State University must provide official transcripts from every college and university attended. Applicants to the Master of Science in Computer Science must provide official GRE scores and have ten years of work experience as well as an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25. They must provide two letters of recommendation, a current resume and a statement of purpose. Applicants must have satisfactorily completed Data Structures, Computer Organization & Architecture, Operating Systems, Software Development, Database, Data Communications or Networking, Calculus, Discrete Modeling or Linear Algebra as well as Probability and Statistics. Applicants to the Master of Science in Information Technology must provide a statement of purpose, current resume and two letters of recommendation.
Kennesaw State College Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for undergraduate Georgia residents is $1,038.40 per credit hour and for non-residents it is $1,507.33. Graduate tuition for residents is $1,149.00 per credit hour and for non-residents it is $1,919 per credit hour. Online undergraduate tuition is $411 per credit hour and graduate online tuition is $588 per credit hour.
Financial aid is available and students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. Students may be offered grants, scholarships, and loans. Those attending on campus may be offered work-study, fellowships or assistantships.
