About Bellevue University
Bellevue University is located in the Omaha suburb of Bellevue, Nebraska. The university was founded in 1966 with a focus on adult education. The goal of the private university was to offer higher education to those adults who were already working in full-time careers but needed to further their studies. This tradition continues today. Presently, more than 80 percent of Bellevue University’s students are over the age of 25.
Though the main campus remains in Bellevue, the university has expanded over the years. A secondary campus, called Lozier Professional Center, is in West Omaha. This smaller campus includes classrooms and offices for faculty and staff. The university also has a wide-reaching online presence.
Along with course offerings, Bellevue University has an active athletic program. As part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the university’s athletic teams travel throughout the Midwest. Bellevue University Accreditation Details
Bellevue University achieved accreditation in 1977 from the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The university is now accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
Bellevue University holds both institutional accreditation and specialized accreditation for some of its degree programs. Institutional accreditation provides students with the knowledge that the institution follows a strict standard of guidelines that must be upheld. Institutional accreditation is only granted after thorough examinations that are repeated on a regular basis.
There are only six regional institutional accreditors in the country that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. These accreditors have developed a method of scrutinizing higher learning institutions that is fair and thorough. Bellevue University last went through the accreditation process in 2015. Traditional Undergraduate
Traditional undergraduates are those students who plan to attend courses in-seat. These undergraduates may be new students who have not attended a college or university before or students who have transfer credits.
Prior to applying for admission, students must have proof that they have or will soon graduate from an accredited high school. They must supply transcripts showing high school graduation. Students may also provide proof of passing a GED examination. Transfer students must also supply transcripts from their previous university. Any courses that earned less than a C grade are not eligible for transfer.
Any students that were dismissed from another educational institution for disciplinary reasons or academic issues are not eligible for admittance to Bellevue University until one year has passed from the time that student was dismissed.
Graduate Students
Students wishing to attend Bellevue University for advanced degrees may apply online. The application is available at any time. There is no application deadline for advanced degrees.
Those seeking entrance into graduate programs must provide transcripts with proof of a degree from an accredited institution. The student must show a GPA of 2.5 or better on the last 60 hours of study in undergraduate programs or a GPA of 3.0 or better in previous graduate level courses. Applicants may be required to provide essays or letters of recommendation.
Online Learning

Tuition and Financial Aid
The cost of tuition at Bellevue University is charged by credit hour. Undergraduate student can expect to pay $298 per hour for traditional classes. Those students who take classes online will pay $415 per credit hour. Graduate classes are $575 per credit hour for both traditional and online courses.
Along with these charges, Bellevue University students are charged application fees, general college fees and a graduation fee. Books and other supplies are averaged at about $1350. Students can expect about $3000 in other expenses. Those living on campus will pay about $13,000 for room and board.
